Ranga Reddy : Independence Day preparations at a government school in Ranga Reddy district turned tragic after the headmistress got electrocuted while trying to erect a flagpole on Sunday morning. Four students also suffered injuries. The mishap occurred at the Government Upper Primary School in Medikonda village of Pudur mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Sunday morning when headmistress K Prabhavati, 40, was trying to erect an iron pole for hoisting the tricolour on Monday.
At 11 am, "The headmistress and the students erected the pole successfully. The mishap occurred while they were trying to remove it," Chengomul Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Y Yadaiah said. While removing the pole, the young students could not balance it properly due to its weight and the top end of the pole fell on live electric wires passing by the school. "The headmistress and the students suffered electric shock. Villagers immediately rushed them to the Vikarabad government hospital in an auto, where Prabhavati was declared brought dead. The students are out of danger," the Yadaiah ASI said. Prabhavati's husband Rajiv Reddy is a farmer and police registered a case. under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
